About the SSC

The Saville Sports Centre (SSC) is a state-of-the-art curling and indoor tennis facility operated by the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta.  The Centre is the home of the University of Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas Tennis and Curling teams. In addition, the facility plays host to a vast array of recreational and elite athletes.  We proudly serve community members of all ages and ability through programs, facility rentals and special events.

The Centre is named after Edmonton businessman and philanthropist Mr. Bruce Saville who contributed substantially to the construction of the complex.

The Saville Sports Centre boasts championship quality competitive and recreational facilities including:

  • 8 Indoor Tennis Courts
  • 10 championship Curling sheets
  • Fully equipped fitness centre
  • 9,000 sq. ft multi-purpose gymnasium
  • Licensed "Balmoral Lounge" featuring:
    • great view of curling and tennis areas
    • closed circuit TV of all curling sheets
    • accomodates up to 350 people
    • food and catering services
  • Gold Locker rooms including steam room, hot tub and towel service
  • General Locker rooms
  • Meeting room
  • "Kevin's Rocks-N-Racquets" Pro Shop

9 Outdoor Tennis Courts (located at 51 Avenue and 121 Street, seasonal)

About the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation
