Setting Those New Year Fitness Goals ... and Reaching Them!

The Saville Sports Centre (SSC) fitness centre would like to welcome everyone back after the holiday season. During this return, we often see an increase in participation within the facility with hopes and desires to start off the New Year off on the right foot.

The importance to keeping those New Year resolutions and/or new programs are dependant upon setting attainable goals. These are goals that will help you to achieve your ultimate goal in the end. For example, when arriving with the goal of losing 20 lbs, set the smaller goal of reaching this by averaging a weekly goal of 1-2 lbs per week for 10 weeks. Keeping the goals realistic and attainable will help to ensure you stay on track.



Injuries are also common at this time of year. Be sure to complete a proper warm up prior to starting your workouts and a sufficient cool down upon finishing. Stay on top of proper nutritional habits as nutrition plays a large role in reaching those weight loss/gain goals.
